I was born in Abilene, TX on May 18th, joining my parents and my three older brothers. I grew up one cow town over in Clyde, TX. I was the odd one out at home being the only girl and a redhead but also in school as an artist and a theatre geek. In a town full of farms and football, the Arts were underappreciated to say the least. Plus, I was "weird" and kids are mean. I would often be found up a tree reading, in my room drawing, or somewhere else acting out anything and everything in my imagination. My High School theatre teacher (lifelong friend and mentor), was a shining light in the darkness. She made me believe I could do anything and showed me that my love for the Arts didn't need to be "just a hobby". I never felt that I fit into the lifestyle that a small Texas town had to offer.
I always knew I was meant for more
In 2007, I graduated High School and moved to Dallas, TX. There I studied at KD Studio (College of Film and Dramatic Arts) and in 2009 I graduated with my Associates in Musical Theatre Performance. I had some of the best teachers anyone could ask for. But they weren't just teachers, they were professionals and I was able to work with a few of them outside of school in the Theatre. And they weren't just professionals, they were my friends (awww). They were nothing but encouraging and KD is where I broke out of my shell and I was forever hooked on the entertainment industry.
Theatre will always hold a special place in my heart but Film was where I wanted to be.
After saving up money bartending and selling my art, I moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2012. LA is where I currently reside, living my dream. I have expanded from acting into writing and directing, I have performed Stand-up and Improv, I have done sketches on stage and on screen and continue to sell my art. Most importantly, I am doing all of this (all I ever wanted) on my own terms. Plus, I met the love of my life, the best PIC (partner in crime) I could ever have imagined.
People have different views of what success is. This is mine.
Chapter 4 is still being written.
I couldn't be more excited to see what the future has in store. I become a better me every day, I meet new, creative, and talented people every day, and every day I make a little bit of history.
Thanks for being a part of this journey. Caitlyn Baidas
